On page optimization of content and associated coding to increase its relevance to specific keywords. The list may include page title, meta description, meta keywords, meta robots, canonical URL tag, page architecture, heading tags, keyword density in body text, internal linking, site navigation structure, URL naming, and domain name extension.
The second factor would be off page optimization which typically deals with off site promotions. The list may include search engine submissions, local directory submissions, community creation in social networking sites, blogging, forum postings, social bookmarking, link exchange, link baiting, cross-linking, photo sharing, video promotions, business reviews, article submission, press release promotion, classifieds submission, social shopping network, question and answering sites, document sharing, CSS W3C and RSS directory submissions, widget/gadget development, and pay per click advertising campaign.
